About 300 Hour Teacher Training

This training is organized into four distinct modules spread over two years. It is designed to give you time for learning, application, and integration of the material. Each module is composed of weekend immersions and supervised practical application of the material in the form of class assisting and observation, teaching practicums, and individual guidance sessions to support your growth.

EmbodiYoga® offers the following areas of special focus:
Embody the Teachings of Yoga Through The Body Systems

Each module in this training explores different body systems to bring profound awareness and consciousness to every tissue of the body. Each body system has its own unique psychophysical state, movement expression and communication style. They are a valuable tool for assessing students, expanding your alignment abilities & language, and growing whole-body-mind ease and fullness into your practice and teaching.

Embody the Teachings of Yoga Through Understanding How The Body Moves and Develops

Each module explores how the body breaths, forms, and develops — from our
embryological origins to our current physical form. Modules include embodied anatomy, embryology, and a deep understanding of human developmental movement. You will learn somatic approaches to open deeper layers of kinesthetic awareness through developmental sequencing, EmbodiYoga® movement principles, application to asana, breath and all aspects of yoga. You will explore ways to build safe, integrated sequences and class plans that are developmentally appropriate for varied skill levels. You will grow your ability to apply simple hands on & movement re patterning in class settings and individual sessions.

CURRICULUM

MODULE 1: FOUNDATIONS
The MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM

The musculoskeletal system provides the framework and inherent structure of our bodily form. The connective tissue & ligaments provide tensile support. Together they articulate the alignment and balance of the body’s weight with the force of gravity. This allows for mobility, stability and clarity of form. In Module 1 you will learn postural alignment and sequencing through the bones & joints, creating easeful, integrated movement through the limbs and core.

ORIGINS OF MOVEMENT & BREATH 1:

In Module 1 you will develop an embodied understanding of prana as the foundation of breath & movement — from cellular to lung breathing, from the nadis to the five prana vayus.

MODULE 1 DATES, 2018:
September 7-9 (Friday Evening Sept 7), October 6-7, November 17-18, December 1-2, Friday Evening Nov 30

Weekend Class Times:
Friday evening dates: 6:00-8:00 pm
Saturday: 12:30-6:00
Sunday: 12:30-4:00

MODULE 2: CONTENTS & CONTAINER
THE ORGANS, LIGAMENTS & CONNECTIVE TISSUE

The Organs, Ligaments & Connective tissue have an important role in supporting three-dimensional movement and posture, providing fullness and buoyancy from within to the musculoskeletal framework. In Module 2 you will learn internal alignment and sequencing through the organs, and ways to effect postural efficacy vital to eliminating strain and tension in our asana practice.

ORIGINS OF MOVEMENT & BREATH 2:

In Module 2 we will continue our exploration of prana & breath with an embodied understanding of pranayama, the diaphragms and bandhas.

MODULE 2, 2019 DATES:
February 22-24 (Friday Evening Feb 22), March 23-24, April 13-14, May 3-5
(Friday Evening May 3)

Weekend Class Times:
Friday evening dates: 6:00-8:00 pm
Saturday: 12:30-6:00
Sunday: 12:30-4:00

MODULE 3: RADIANCE & SPACE
THE GLANDS

The Glandular system affects our structural integrity, providing internal lightness & spaciousness as well pathways of support through the skeleton. In Module 3 you will learn alignment and sequencing through the glands & skeleton to find support for the spine, specific bones & joints.

EMBODYING OPTIMAL MOVEMENT 1:
THE DEVELOPMENTAL PATTERNS AND BODY-MIND INTEGRATION

In Module 3 you will learn tools to build safe, integrated sequencing and class planning from a developmental perspective and the body systems. We will explore the inherent movement possibilities found in the asana families — vertical axis, upper body/lower body, lateral, cross body, rotation, and spirals — finding new options for whole body-mind cohesiveness in yoga.

MODULE 3, 2019 DATES:
September 13-15 (Friday Evening Sept 13)
October 19-20, November 30-December 1, December 13-15
(Friday Evening Dec 13)

Weekend Class Times:
Friday evening dates: 6:00-8:00 pm
Saturday: 12:30-6:00
Sunday: 12:30-4:00

MODULE 4: INTEGRATION
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, SENSES & PERCEPTION

In Module 4 you will learn new ways to integrate and bring balance to the nervous system in yoga, and an embodied understanding of pratyahara, meditation and restorative practices.

EMBODYING OPTIMAL MOVEMENT 2:
THE DEVELOPMENTAL PATTERNS AND BODY-MIND INTEGRATION

In Module 4 you will learn tools to build safe, integrated sequencing and class planning from a developmental perspective and the body systems. We will explore ways to create embodied knowledge — growing kinesthetic connections and body intelligence in your students, through hands on assisting, language & cueing, and asana choices. Moving beyond performing asanas to creating classes that re-pattern and grow your students choices and integration.

MODULE 4, 2020 DATES:
March 6-7-8 (Friday evening class March 6)
April 3-4-5 (Friday evening class April 3)
May 1-2-3 (Friday evening class May 1)
